An art sale will give budding artists a chance to exhibit their work and raise funds for an important village project.

Somerleyton Village Art Sale and Exhibition will be hosted at the village hall on Saturday, July 6, allowing local talents to sell or simply showcase their skills.

From 11am to 3pm, paintings will be selling from £35 to £300, while prints, cards and pottery will also be on sale.

Money is being raised for the ongoing project to upgrade the hall, which is in need of extensive refurbishment.

"This has been a success every year so far," said organiser Dee Smith. "The artists themselves are always surprised to see such a professional display.

"The hall has been neglected for many years and needs dragging into the 21st century."

The event, taking place on the same day as the school fete (12pm-5pm), is £1 and children go free. Motorists are requested to park in the adjacent field and not on The Street to prevent traffic disruption.
