Deck the halls this Christmas at a new and "unusual" shop that has opened in a town - but it only sells baubles.

The Rum Lot has opened in London Road South in Lowestoft.

The new business, which will be open all year round, is filled with over 750 different baubles and "bespoke" gifts made by local craftsmen.

Owner Alice Taylor is certain it's going to be a hit and not just during the Christmas period. 

She said: "Tourists who visit our lovely part of the country want a little something to take home and a bauble fits the bill perfectly.

"Baubles are small, light and appreciated as memorable gifts by everyone.

"Every year when the tree is decorated, the baubles can remind them of their seaside holiday in Suffolk.

"But it’s not just tourists who come in, lots of people love to add something pretty to their holiday collections whatever the time of year.

"The Rum Lot is not just Christmas. We also offer other seasonal bits and seaside ornaments all year round."

Ms Taylor said she was inspired by the bauble shops she has seen in places such as the US, Canada and Germany.

And she saw "an opening" for something similar here in East Anglia.

So far she said the community has been "very supportive" and business has been doing well. 

From traditional ornaments to pizza baubles, there's "something for every taste" and budget.

Ms Taylor added: "Anyone with a fiver can walk in and find a lovely gift, so for those with tight budgets this is the sort of shop they are looking for.

"We have a fantastic line of quirky, unique, high-quality baubles that make everyone smile.

"That’s the best thing about this shop, it’s a destination shop and everybody who walks through the door has a big, happy smile on their face."

The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10.30am until 4pm.
