A woman remains in a stable condition in hospital after being stabbed numerous times at a home in a coastal town.

A 34-year-old man is set to appear at crown court next month to face an attempted murder charge in connection with the incident at a home in Carlton Colville, Lowestoft.

With the woman in her 30s taken to hospital after suffering multiple stab wounds, she "remains in hospital in a stable condition," according to police.

Trouble flared at a home on the "quiet street" of Lowestoft Road in Carlton Colville between 1am and 2am on Saturday, November 23.

Police and the East of England Ambulance Service were called about 2.10am with searches conducted to trace the suspected attacker - who is known to the victim.

Around an hour later witnesses described seeing "bright, flashing lights" with lots of police cars and the police dog unit "looking along the quiet street" as they searched the area around the hedge and undergrowth surrounding the Carlton Meadow Park playing field on Lowestoft Road, Carlton Colville.

It subsequently led to a 34-year-old man being arrested around 17 hours later at 7pm on Saturday evening.

Ryan Leggett, of Lowestoft Road, Carlton Colville, was subsequently charged with attempted murder and also a second offence of threatening a person with a knife in private place, in respect of another victim - a teenage child.

After being remanded in custody, Leggett appeared at Great Yarmouth Magistrates' Court on Monday, November 25.

A Suffolk police spokesman said: "He was remanded in custody pending a next hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on December 9.

"The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition."
