Two Homebase stores in Suffolk have been put on the market after the DIY and garden chain entered into administration. 

The DIY retailer, which lost £84.2million last year, was sold to retail group CDS, which owns The Range.

The rescue deal secured up to 1,600 jobs and 70 stores.

The company appointed administrators at Teneo on Wednesday who have placed 74 leasehold stores on the market - including the units in Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury.

The Felixstowe and Newmarket stores are not included in the list of units up for sale.

The Homebase site in Lowestoft was purchased by Sainsbury's earlier this year and is understood to be closing its doors in December.

Potential buyers have until Friday, November 29 to purchase the remaining stores in efforts to secure more funds for creditors.

It is believed the collapse of the DIY and garden chain happened as the retailer waited for about £5m to be remitted back to it in tax rebates. 

The company was seeking reductions in the overall rateable value of its store portfolio by £5.7m following a 2023 revaluation of its annual business rates bill.
