With the independent regulator of health and social care in England - the Care Quality Commission (CQC) - continuing its investigation, they said safety concerns were raised during a recent inspection.

It is understood there were 16 people living in the home at the time of inspection.

A SCC spokesman told this newspaper: "After recent routine inspections of Windsor House Care Home in Lowestoft, several issues relating to the quality of care provided at the home were brought to our attention.

"The council's first priority is always the health, safety and wellbeing of our residents and we are making good progress in moving them into new accommodation and expect this to be completed by the end of the week."

A CQC spokesperson said: "CQC is in the process of inspecting Windsor House and we've proposed to take further regulatory action to protect people due to concerns we found around their safety.

"We're working closely with the local authority to ensure people are being kept safe in the meantime."

Jess Asato, MP for Lowestoft, said: "I am concerned to hear about the issues of quality of care in respect of services provided at Windsor House in Kirkley Cliff Road.

According to its most recent CQC report published in September 2022 - and then reviewed again in July last year - Windsor House is a "residential care home providing personal care for up to 17 people in an adapted building."

The overall rating for its service was 'Good'.

Fay Khodaverdy, Chief Executive Officer of Saivan Care Services Limited, said: "Saivan Care Services LTD is committed to delivering person centred care and support of the highest standards.

"We continue to work in close collaboration with the Local Authority and Care Quality Commission in the best interest of people we support."
