A brand-new employability hub is set to provide a long-term legacy for the Lowestoft area and beyond after it was unveiled at a coastal college.
Described as a "one-stop shop", the new Nucleus Employability Hub is now "open for support" following an official launch this week.
East Coast College launched Nucleus in partnership with Sizewell C - as it aims to provide employment search assistance as well as application and interview support to those looking to secure employment in the region.
Lowestoft - was officially opened during a special unveiling on Tuesday.
The hub - which is located at the college's Lowestoft Campus on Rotterdam Road,The centre is bringing together services, training and employability expertise as part of efforts to reach an untapped local workforce.
It is aimed at supporting adults of all ages that are looking for resources and insights to improve their skills, employability and access opportunities in the region.
Among the services available at the hub are: job service sign-ups; referral services; CV and application advice; interview preparation support; interview management services; employability short courses; access to employers at Sizewell C and in the region; key training and referrals to upskilling and other related vocational courses.
Rachel Bunn, Director of Commercial, Projects and Community at East Coast College, said: "Nucleus enables us to work in partnership and collaboration in the region.
"The employment hub will see opportunities for anyone to explore support, skills and training using a multi-disciplinary approach to support positive progression in employment opportunities."
Speaking at the official opening of Nucleus, Mrs Bunn said: "This is about regional legacy - we really need to put East Anglia on the map - and projects like Nucleus can really make that happen."
'Legacy'
Chris Young, Head of Employment Affairs Unit at Sizewell C, said: "We’re thrilled to be able to support East Coast College to launch Nucleus.
"It’s going to provide exactly the kind of long-term legacy that we want to leave for this area – offering local people access to training and skills development, and the insights to access the best opportunities, not only on our project but across the region."
In September, Sizewell C reaffirmed its commitment to Lowestoft by announcing a new agreement with Access Community Trust.
It sees SAMS Wellbeing Hub and Café in Lowestoft extending its provision for those in need in Lowestoft and be an important base for the project to grow awareness and access to jobs with Sizewell C.
