Another important milestone for energy logistics at the Port of Lowestoft has been marked after "a significant contract" was sealed.
International energy logistics provider Peterson has secured a deal with Perenco to support its operations in the Southern North Sea (SNS).
It will see integrated logistics services for the independent oil and gas company delivered from Peterson's base at the Port of Lowestoft.
Peterson will provide cargo operations, warehousing and road transport for at least three years operating from its supply base at Town Quay.
The company said that "up to 20 quayside and warehousing personnel" will service the contract on a 24/7 basis.
It said "an integrated end-to-end logistics service using its control tower methodology as a hub for the planning and co-ordination of critical resources" will be provided.
With Peterson having a close partnership at ABP's Port of Lowestoft for more than five years, they recently reached the milestone of conducting cargo operations on 1,000 vessels and are well-equipped to support projects across the energy industry.
And with the construction of the Lowestoft Eastern Energy Facility (LEEF) in the Outer Harbour at Lowestoft representing major investment by ABP in state-of-the-art infrastructure, it allows Peterson to service larger platform supply vessels and walk-to-work vessels -providing additional flexibility to Perenco and other operators in the SNS.
David Waters, planning and logistics manager SNS at Perenco, said: "We look forward to developing this relationship as we work to create solutions which increase the lifespan of the world’s energy resources."
Jason Hendry, joint managing director UK at Peterson Energy Logistics, added: "Working in close partnership with ABP, we are delighted to have secured this contract with Perenco.
"Our considerable experience in port operations and control tower methodologies will deliver significant benefits over the long term."
Paul Litten, head of commercial at ABP which owns the Port of Lowestoft, said: "This is a significant contract for the Port, and we are delighted to continue to strengthen our partnership with Peterson.
"LEEF is a significant investment by ABP, which meets the current and future needs of our energy sector, and it is great that it is already being recognised as beneficial for Lowestoft."
