A care team has transformed a pensioner's garden.

The front garden of Doreen Butters, in Hollingsworth Road, Lowestoft, was once her pride and joy but had become overgrown.

The 79-year-old was unable to manage the upkeep due to being unsteady on her feet and was struggling to find help.

The Kingsley Home Care team, who had recently moved into their London Road North offices, stepped in to offer their assistance.

Georgina Johnston, Kingsley Home Care Services' chief operating officer, said: “Doreen can’t manage the garden these days because she is too unsteady on her feet.

"She was having trouble finding someone to do it so I thought, ‘we will do it for her as a nice surprise at no charge."

The team planned their own version of a 60 Minute Makeover, calling on gardeners from sister company Kingsley Healthcare to help.

Miss Butters, who receives weekly visits from home carers, said: "I was amazed by their generosity. What a kind thought.

"I have got a special name for them now – my Doreen’s Angels."
