A dog killed a duck in a public park near Lowestoft as a group of children watched on.

The incident happened at Nicholas Everitt Park in Oulton Broad.

Sandra Keller, the chairman of Oulton Broad Parish Council shared the news in a statement.

She explained the incident occurred at Nicholas Everitt Park some time over the weekend of August 31.

She continued to urge "all dog owners to keep their dogs under control" when at the park in the future.

The council later clarified this meant if a dog does "not listen to commands", "tries to attack the wildlife or other dogs" or displays any other unacceptable behaviour, it should be kept on a lead at all times while in the park.

Dogs who are trained and well-behaved can still be let off-lead.

Nicholas Everitt Park is home to an array of play equipment, picnic spots and the Lowestoft and Oulton Broad Motor and Sailing clubs.
