A man who died following a 19-month battle with brain cancer is set to be remembered this weekend at a special event.

Loved by "everyone who knew him and met him", the memory of Ollie Nicholls will be honoured as a charity horse showing show is held at the Broads Equestrian Centre in Barnby - near Lowestoft and Beccles.

The "very popular and well loved" Ollie who was "well known in Lowestoft" died at home surrounded by his loved ones on November 10 last year aged 27, after a 19-month fight with a grade four cancerous brain tumour.

The Ollie Nicholls Memorial Show has been organised by his mother, Christine Nicholls, and family in aid of the Brain Tumour Charity.

It is being showcased at Broads Equestrian Centre this Sunday, September 8 with kind permission of Dee Mauree - with the venue sponsored by Marion Whitewood, Ollie's nanny.

With the showing show being held in memory of her son Ollie, Christine Nicholls said: "It is an amazing event being held for a worthy cause and of course in memory of my dear son."

The "big event" is raising funds for the Brain Tumour Charity, with a large raffle being held that will see all proceeds raised going to the charity.

With 12 ridden classes and 11 In hand classes starting at 9.30am, ridden championships and In hand championships will follow, along with six fun classes, before the Supreme of the show and reserve are crowned at the end of the day.

Earlier this year a memorial bench - designed in the shape of a skateboard, and installed "in his favourite place" at the Normanston Park skatepark in Lowestoft was unveiled after Ollie's friends rallied round to raise funds for it.

As well as being a passionate skateboarder, Ollie enjoyed spending time with the families horses, whom he adored.
