A new bar has opened near an east Suffolk town after the owners of a campsite spent months turning an old grain silo into a stylish new watering hole.

The Pigs in Blankets campsite, based at Broadside Park Farm, near Southwold, opened its new bar called The Grain Shed on Thursday, August 22.

Plans to convert the old grain silos at the farm into catering facilities were submitted to East Suffolk Council earlier this year and now the first silo has been completed.

Will Tomson, who co-owns the site with his wife Jess, built the bar with the help of YouDrink, a UK-based beer and brewery company.

The bar will be open from 2pm to 10pm every day and will serve a range of local draught beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks and snacks with indoor and outdoor seating.

While the bar is primarily open to campsite users, Pigs in Blankets says it is also open to passing trade and welcomes members of the public.

The team at Pigs in Blankets said: "We are so excited to have finished building the bar. We have been looking forward to this for a long time and we'd like to thank everyone for their support in the first few days. It's all very exciting."

The opening of the new bar comes after the campsite recently announced they are also inviting third-party caterers to serve food on Fridays, such as The Little Pizza Oven van which recently served its artisan pizza at the site.

The farm also offers a range of other facilities including chilled farm produce vending machines, BBQs and firepits, ping pong tables, a private footpath and a petting farm.

Jess and Will Tomson say they want to make their campsite as good an experience for people as possible and they are ecstatic about their new facility.
