A new five-bedroom HMO for students looks set to be created not far away from a coastal town centre after plans were given the go ahead.
A scheme to convert a two storey, end of terrace Victorian property in Lowestoft into "a small HMO" for up to five students has been approved.
The change of use plans centring around converting an "existing dwelling" at 30 Milton Road East in Lowestoft into a five bedroom house in multiple occupation (HMO) has been given the green light;
The change of use plans submitted by agents Graham Nourse Planning Consultants Ltd on behalf of the applicant Mr Reece Ritchie - which had been lodged with East Suffolk Council in June - were "permitted" under delegated powers.
A delegated report from the council's case officer said: "Permission is sought to change the use from a five bedroom dwelling to a small HMO.
"No external alterations are proposed.
"The HMO would comprise four floors of accommodation, with shared kitchen/dining room, bike store, pantry and laundry at ground floor level, two bedrooms at ground floor level, two bedrooms and an office at first floor level and a bedroom at attic level."
With the town council recommending approval, three objections - citing "fear of disruption," "noise" and "numerous HMO applications in the town centre already" - were among issues raised.
However the scheme was recommended for approval subject to conditions.
