Regeneration of empty brownfield land with new industrial units could soon gather pace - provided plans get the go-ahead.
A scheme could see new the units and a local authority logistics hub built on a patch of vacant land not far from Lowestoft's main cemetery.
The 0.9-hectare (2.2 acres) site off Barnards Way, behind the North Quay Retail Park and industrial estate, has been unoccupied for several years.
Proposals for "a new high-quality commercial development comprising of one logistics hub for East Suffolk Council and six light industrial units" on the brownfield land have been submitted to the council.
The plans have been lodged by agents Ingleton Wood LLP on behalf of the applicant, East Suffolk Council.
People were invited to have their say on the proposals last month.
A planning, design and access statement said: "The development will provide a much needed asset to East Suffolk Council and the local economy."
It concludes: "Overall, the proposal is considered to provide benefit to the wider area."
