Three park tennis venues in a coastal town have undergone major renovations as part of a £250,000 scheme.
Tennis courts in Normanston Park, Denes Oval and Kensington Gardens in Lowestoft have been upgraded as part of a partnership between Lowestoft Town Council and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
Breathing new life into the local park tennis courts in Lowestoft, a total of 16 courts in the three parks have been transformed.
And an official event will be held next weekend at Denes Oval to celebrate the opening of all the newly refurbished tennis courts.
A town council spokesman said: "The courts have undergone extensive work to ensure viability for years to come, including resurfacing, repainting and new smart gate systems."
As well as weekly free park tennis sessions, with equipment provided, the new courts will host Local Tennis Leagues, giving people the opportunity to get involved in friendly and social local competitions.
All courts will be available to book for free via the LTA website - although charges will apply for floodlights at Denes Oval.
New booking systems and smart gate technology means it is now easier to get on court by booking in advance to guarantee availability.
The spokesman added: "The LTA and Lowestoft Town Council will work together to ensure Free Park Tennis sessions are available on the courts, providing regular opportunities for anyone to pick up a racket and play."
After "extensive work" an official launch event takes place at Denes Oval on Saturday, July 13 from 10.45am.
It will see the mayor of Lowestoft, Cllr Nasima Begum, be the first person to officially use the new electronic gates at Denes Oval, before the Lowestoft Town Tennis and Pickleball Club run an open day from 9am to 1pm to encourage participation in both tennis and pickleball.
Cllr Begum said: "It is wonderful that these much-loved tennis courts have received a major upgrade over the past few months ready for the summer.
"The Town Council has committed to keeping these tennis courts as free-to-access and I look forward to seeing everyone who lives in or visits Lowestoft enjoying playing tennis, both socially and competitively, using these high-quality facilities."
