Work to install new kiosks in a town's historic market area is under way.
A scheme to install four new wooden market stalls to help increase footfall and boost Lowestoft's market area had been given the green light in July 2022.
And work began this week at the Triangle Market on the High Street in Lowestoft, which will see four wooden market stalls/kiosks with temporary fixings installed for traders.
In March 2022 Lowestoft Town Council lodged plans to "install four wooden market stalls/kiosks which will be temporarily fixed to the floor" with East Suffolk Council.
With the kiosks "to be rented to traders to provide a weatherproof area for sales of a range of goods," the plans were approved under delegated powers four months later.
At the time the town council said the kiosks would "enable a safer more convenient place to trade from" with it "hoped to encourage more traders to the Triangle and increase footfall for the economy of the historic High Street".
With each kiosk measuring around 2m by 3m, installation work - which is due to continue "over the coming months" - started on Tuesday.
In social media posts, Lowestoft Town Council said: "Work to install the new kiosks at the Triangle Market has started today as the electricity supply is sorted.
"As part of our plans to improve our offerings to market traders, four new kiosks will be installed over the coming months to add the existing, and recently refurbished kiosks.
"All of the kiosks will then be available for lease for trading all-year around.
"More details on how traders can lease these stalls at an affordable rate will be available shortly."
