From the Scores to the glitzy lights of London, meet the local lad who has earned international acclaim for animating some of the most recognisable characters on TV.

These days, Will Lloyd-Cook is a director for Blue Zoo Animation Studios in London where he lives with his partner and eight-month-old daughter Penny.

Blue Zoo is best known for its BAFTA-winning CBeebies show Numberblocks which features characters who are numbers, now in its seventh year.

But Will, 34, traces his creative journey back to Lowestoft where his parents owned Cook's Furnisher and he attended Kirkley High and Lowestoft College.

"During my time at the college I had some great teachers who told me to express myself and draw whatever I like," he said.

"My friend Ollie and I flipped a coin one day, saying one of us would go to do graphic design and the other would do animation and that's how it happened."

Will left Lowestoft to study animation at the University of Hertfordshire where he later went on to work as director on projects such as the Adventures of Paddington, earning his team an Emmy.

Nowadays, much of Will's work sees him visiting primary schools and universities around the country to speak to aspiring artists and to encourage creativity in young people which doesn't allow him to visit home very often.

He added: "Lowestoft is my home town and I'm heading back soon to spend time with my parents.

"It's the first time I'll be back since my daughter was born so I'm looking forward to that."
