A well-established monthly market has helped to boost a worthy cause.
East Point Markets fundraising market fun day was successfully held on Saturday, February 24 at the Coastal Cuisine site in Lowestoft.
With the market fun day held to help raise funds for Fritton Owl Sanctuary, there was plenty to attract the crowds to Coastal Cuisine Ltd on Hadenham Road, on the south Lowestoft industrial estate.
More than 20 market and craft stalls, live music, classic cars - with East Coast Pirates Car Club displaying their vehicles - Norfolk Ghostbusters, a chance to meet two of the owls from the sanctuary - including an African Spotted Owl called ‘Dopey’, a slushie van, 'selfie' photo stands, a tombola and much more meant there was a fine turnout for the fundraiser.
East Point Market organiser Michael Fairhurst said that with the markets having now been held for a year, Fritton Owl Sanctuary had attended every one of the monthly markets - so they were keen to do something to help their appeal.
Mr Fairhurst said: "It was one of our busiest events to date with lots of people coming along to support the Sanctuary, and people offering their time for free to help us in our fundraising.
"We made a total of £250 on the day for the Sanctuary.
"We wanted to stage this event and raise some funds for them to help their cause at a time where they need a little help from the wider community.
"These guys do a fantastic job and the thought of them facing closure just doesn't bare thinking about."
A volunteer from the sanctuary added: "It's amazing the amount of support that the sanctuary has received from the wider community - and East Point Markets has organised a fantastic event to help raise funds and highlight our work."
