Tramway Hotel in Pakefield to reopen with new owner in March

Graham Bishop has taken over the Tramway Hotel in Pakefield with plans to relaunch its food and drink offerings to the town shortly before Easter.

Built in the early 1900s, the Tramway took its name from a tram terminal that formerly stood on the opposite side of the road.

In 2016, it was saved from being converted into a Tesco supermarket following a public campaign and in 2021, £35,000 was invested into the building by publican Mark Edmonds.

He has since left the business and Mr Bishop has taken the helm, with plans to reopen on March 23 with all new chefs, bar and housekeeping staff.

In a statement on Facebook, he said: "I will be at the Tramway from March 8, rolling my sleeves up and getting stuck in to get ready for the 23rd.

"I'm looking forward to seeing you all soon."

As well as serving real ale and hosting live music performances, the new team will offer "traditional" pub food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with "proper roasts" on Sundays.
