A care home could be extended to unveil new facilities, provided plans are given the green light.
A scheme that would see new bedrooms created at the Stradbroke Court Residential Home on Green Drive in Pakefield, Lowestoft has been submitted.
Plans centring around a "single storey extension to provide seven new bedrooms, along with communal lounge area and bathroom" at the care home have been lodged with East Suffolk Council.
An application prepared by agents SJC Architectural Services on behalf of the applicant Mrs Hillier, for the care home that is provided and run by Aps Care Ltd, was submitted earlier this month.
With the existing gross internal floorspace at the care home listed as being 2651sq metres, according to the application this would increase to 2881sq m provided plans get the go-ahead.
With "seven net additional rooms" listed, provided the scheme gets the green light the application states that new jobs would be created - with the current full-time equivalent total of 45 for existing employees rising to a total full-time equivalent of 48 if successful.
Lowestoft Town Council's planning committee considered the application at a meeting last week, and said: "It was agreed to in principle support the application subject to the concerns from Suffolk Highways regarding additional parking and cycling spaces, and the concerns raised in the ecology statement regarding trees being addressed."
With the proposals currently "awaiting decision", East Suffolk Council is likely to make a final decision in the coming weeks.
