It was the year of King Charles III Coronation while progress gathered pace in the ongoing construction of the Gull Wing bridge in Lowestoft during 2023.

July

Winnie the sheep - who had lost the use of her back legs - was fitted with a wheelchair attached to her rear, allowing her to join other sheep to graze at Pakefield Church.

A branch of fast-food restaurant Wimpy reopened in London Road North - six years after it had left Lowestoft town centre.

There was shock as the Wilko store in Gordon Road, Lowestoft was one of 52 stores to close nationally.

Following a review by East Suffolk Council, the St Peters Court high rise tower block in Lowestoft is to be emptied and demolished.

There was heartbreak as three more chalets on Pakefield cliff in Lowestoft were demolished because of crumbling foundations.

Caravans at Pakefield Holiday Park in Lowestoft were left teetering on the cliff edge after high tides and storm damage to the cliff saw part of a roadway collapse onto the beach below.
