Vacant land in the heart of a coastal town is being transformed as a new industrial development progresses.
After two years of design and planning, a new development took a vital step forward as demolition work began in November.
A scheme of works on a former industrial site for The Nexus – a new industrial development on Newcombe Road, Lowestoft - has now seen demolition works completed on the site.
And as work gathers pace, this photo captures the progress being made.
The drone photo taken of Newcombe Road in Lowestoft was captured by Jonathan Howes.
It shows that the two disused industrial buildings - which had occupied the site - have now been demolished as part of a scheme that will see 16 purpose-built contemporary business units of varying sizes - ranging between 35sq m and 225sq m - on land adjacent to Newcombe House on Newcombe Road.
The site is also set to be landscaped, and internal estate roads will be created.
It comes after a scheme was lodged with East Suffolk Council in November last year.
Plans submitted by agents Concertus Design and Property Consultants on behalf of the applicant East Suffolk Council was approved by the council's planning committee North at a meeting in June.
It is hoped that The Nexus - once complete - will become a natural hub for clean energy companies, appealing to both start-up and more established businesses.
Of the new development, Toby Hammond - East Suffolk’s cabinet member for Economic Development and Transport - said last month: "As part of Lowestoft’s PowerPark, The Nexus will provide modern, attractive premises for local businesses, and will offer a range of unit sizes to attract businesses to come to Lowestoft."
