The new tenants of an Adnams Suffolk pub are really pleased after opening its doors to the public last week.

The Plough in Wangford announced a temporary closure in October this year, for reasons that remained shrouded in mystery until recently.

Based in London Road and near Southwold, the pub was a popular haunt for the local community and music legends alike - including Paul Heaton, who put money behind the bar during the summer.

Now, father and son duo Ian and Sam White of White Hospitality Management have taken over the lease of the pub, which opened on Tuesday, December 5.

"We are really pleased with the way that it has taken off," said Mr Ian White.

"We have had a very good response from the local community and tables have been booking nicely.

"It has been a bit of a slow start but it is the quietest time of the year."

This is the fourth project in the 18 months since opening for White Hospitality Management, which has been operating around East Anglia.

This is the first time the duo have taken on a Suffolk pub, and the first long-term lease for the company.

Ian White has over 40 years of hospitality experience and has worked all over the UK, and he will be managing the front-of-house staff, whereas his son Sam will be taking over the kitchen.

"We are serving home-cooked classic pub food," said Mr White.

"We use local ingredients as far as possible and have a menu available seven days a week.

"We have launched a Sunday roast menu too!"

The pub, which has five ensuite rooms on site as well, also has caravan pitches on site which will be available to book from April to October.

With the pub located just a few miles from Southwold Beach, it is ideally positioned for summer crowds.

The Plough in Wangford is located on London Road and open from midday until to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and until 6pm on Sundays.
