New floral displays have been unveiled in Lowestoft's town centre aimed at enhancing the environment for visitors, staff and the local community - while helping to attract new businesses to the area.
Lowestoft Vision, the Business Improvement District for the town, had already committed to providing 16 floral displays this winter.
But with generous support from East Suffolk Council’s High Street Improvement grant scheme there are now more than 30 planters and displays that can be found throughout Lowestoft town centre.
This investment is part of Lowestoft Vision’s 'pride of place' promise that aims to improve the look and feel of the town centre, and improve the visitor offering.
Danny Steel, Lowestoft Vision chairman, said: "We believe in creating a vibrant town centre for residents and visitors alike, and these planters help make an impactful step in achieving that goal.
"We are very grateful for the generous support East Suffolk Council have provided, along with the support of all the local businesses within the BID area."
Angela Grey, Lowestoft Vision BID Manager, added: "We want local businesses and the people of Lowestoft to be proud of our town.
"With pride comes a sense of belonging and a stronger sense of community amongst residents and business, which creates a more appealing environment for visitors and helps to attract new businesses and visitors to the area."
With the new planters in Lowestoft town centre provided by Lowestoft Vision, and funded by ESC's Levelling Up fund, cllr Toby Hammond, East Suffolk Council's cabinet member for Economic Development and Transport, said: "Planters are a really effective way of introducing nature into our built environment.
"Plants and trees have obvious environmental benefits but they can also help rejuvenate a high street by bringing us closer to nature in more inviting spaces.
"I'm glad we have been able to show our support for Lowestoft Vision's commitment to enhancing the town centre by helping to almost double the number of planters placed along the high street."
