The opening date of a new McDonald's drive-thru restaurant has been unveiled.
With branding, signs and logos appearing over recent weeks as work to develop a new McDonald's drive-through restaurant in Lowestoft gathers pace, new signage has revealed the opening date.
Land south of Leisure Way in Lowestoft has been transformed over recent weeks as work progresses in the development of a modern freestanding single storey restaurant with drive-thru facility.
Diggers and workmen had moved onto the site in July as construction began on undeveloped land opposite the Tesco supermarket.
With groundworks starting as the diggers moved in, cranes then moved in, in September as the single storey restaurant was moved into place.
According to McDonald's, the restaurant is set to be run "by a local franchisee" who operates other locations in the area.
And now with work nearing completion, the opening date of this new McDonald’s drive-through restaurant - which is set to be the third McDonald's operating in the area, in addition to the other restaurants on Arbor Lane in Pakefield and Kirkley Rise in south Lowestoft - has been confirmed.
As work continues at the site, new signage from the fast food chain has been installed, which states: "Hello Lowestoft. Your new McDonald's open on November 15. See you soon."
Last month McDonald's successfully applied for a new premises licence "to permit late-night refreshment - indoors and outdoors - from Monday to Sunday 11pm to 5am" alongside the "proposed opening hours" of "Monday to Sunday 24-hours" for the new outlet at Leisure Way in north Lowestoft.
Plans to build the third McDonald's in Lowestoft were approved under delegated powers by East Suffolk Council in December last year - despite dozens of objections.
Planning documents submitted as part of the application by agents Planware Ltd, on behalf of McDonald's, said 30 full-time posts and 90 part-time posts, would be created - equating to a full-time equivalent of 62 staff - as the proposal represents a "multi-million-pound investment by a national operator in Lowestoft".
