A woman with a background in psychology is opening a 'new and different kind of business' in Lowestoft.

Jemma Holland is preparing to welcome the first customers to NuGlow, a wellness centre on London Road in Pakefield which is pledging to "revitalize the mind and rejuvenate the body" of its clients.

The business throws open its doors on Saturday, October 14 - and Ms Holland said: "There is nothing else like this in the town."

Previously she has studied a BSc in Psychology and worked as a medical summariser.

Now Ms Holland wants to bring various kinds of treatments under one roof.

"I want the shop to be a one-stop destination for wellness and aesthetics treatments," she said.

At the front of the business, there will be a wellness café and chillout area, while at the back there are two treatments rooms and an infrared sauna room offering reflexology, acupuncture, massage, facials and beauty treatments.

There will also be yoga and meditation classes, with wellness coaching and counselling coming further down the line.

"It's everything to do with wellness. It will have a nice vibe, a place you can go to and have a time out and destress and feel good," Ms Holland said.

"I thought it would be a nice new addition to Lowestoft."

After she completed her degree in psychology, she lived in Australia.

"It was a healthy lifestyle there, they did yoga on the beach and there were wellness centres on every corner.

"I enjoyed the lifestyle but I wanted to come back and live with family and I felt a wellness space was missing in Lowestoft," she said.

NuGlow will open from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm, Saturday from 9am to 3pm and will be closed on Sundays.
