Cranes have moved in as work to develop a new McDonalds drive-through outlet gathers pace.
Work to develop the modern freestanding single storey restaurant with drive-thru facility is progressing.
Two months on from groundworks starting as part of a scheme to create a new drive-through McDonald's restaurant in Lowestoft, a crane has now been prominent at the development site.
Diggers and workmen moved onto the site after construction of the development on undeveloped land opposite the Tesco supermarket got under way in July.
As work to build the new McDonald's drive-through outlet of the fast-food restaurant chain - to be located on land south of Leisure Way, in north Lowestoft - is gathering pace, it is set to be the third McDonald's operating in the area.
While an opening date has yet to be confirmed, the unveiling of the new McDonald's drive-through is in addition to the other restaurants on Arbor Lane in Pakefield and Kirkley Rise in south Lowestoft.
Plans to build the third McDonald's in Lowestoft were approved under delegated powers by East Suffolk Council in December last year - despite dozens of objections.
Planning documents submitted as part of the application by agents Planware Ltd, on behalf of McDonald's, said 30 full-time posts and 90 part-time posts, would be created - equating to a full-time equivalent of 62 staff - as the proposal represents a "multi-million-pound investment by a national operator in Lowestoft".
The plans outlined "a modern freestanding single storey restaurant with drive-thru facility," with the proposals also including 59 car parking spaces, four motorbike spaces and 12 cycle spaces, as well as eight EV charging bays, landscaping and associated works.
However, the plans proved controversial and faced a number of objections, including from Suffolk Wildlife Trust.
The plans were approved with 26 conditions to be met, covering aspects such as litter management, deliveries and surface water.
Now work is gathering pace on the undeveloped land, which had been the subject of numerous planning proposals in recent years.
