A group of talented students, who launched a successful Crowdfunder appeal last year to help finance a project to develop their musical talents, are set for a capital performance.
The youngsters, from Lowestoft, expressed excitement as they will take their production to London where they will stage their musical, Spotlights.
Having met while studying performing arts at Lowestoft Sixth Form College, they will firstly be staging their original and now full length musical, Spotlights, next weekend at the Players Theatre in Lowestoft.
Spotlights was first debuted at the town theatre last year in the form of a one hour workshop-style performance, before a Crowdfunder fundraising appeal was launched - and now, a year on, Spotlights features around 20 songs in comparison to the four initial songs.
Casey Divall, co-writer and musical director, said: "We can’t wait to perform the full show in Lowestoft.
"After Lowestoft we’ll be taking the production to the Other Palace Theatre in London for one performance."
And to the excitement of these young creators and performers, the London show is already proving to be very popular, with tickets almost sold out.
But keen theatregoers locally can still see the show in Lowestoft - as Spotlights is a new coming-of-age LGBTQ+ musical, telling an empowering story of friendship, heartbreak and self-acceptance.
Described as a "true to life and gritty production", it includes strong language and addresses sensitive issues such as bereavement, sexual themes, eating disorders and homophobia and is best suited for those aged 13 and over.
And after performing part of the Spotlights - LGBTQ Musical on stage at the Most Easterly Pride in Lowestoft earlier this month, the group is now ready for two performances next week.
Spotlights The Musical will be performed at The Players Theatre for two performances only on Friday, August 25 and Saturday, August 26 at 7.30pm.
