A new space-themed play area has been unveiled at an official opening.
Work was recently completed to develop a new play area in Lowestoft which cost just under £44,000.
The new space-themed play area at Rosedale Park in the Elmtree ward of Lowestoft was officially opened on Tuesday.
With Lowestoft Town Council overseeing the new play area development, councillors enjoyed visiting the new facilities that were officially opened during Love Parks Week - the national scheme backed by Keep Britain Tidy to celebrate Parks and Open Spaces.
The mayor of Lowestoft, Cllr Sonia Barker, and Cllr Janet Craig attended the opening and handed out books and badges to the families in the park as part of the national initiative.
A Lowestoft town council spokesman said: "Effectively, we have built a new play area at Rosedale Park, aimed at young people."
The newly installed play area features a range of new equipment all with a 'space' theme - including a tower unit, trampoline, roundabout, springers, musical instruments and play panels.
Cllr Barker said: "It is great to see the new play area being enjoyed by so many young families.
"Rosedale Park is a hidden jewel with the park being used by dog walkers, families and young people enjoying this large open space."
The new play area is one of many renovations that the town council has undertaken as part of its commitment to "invest in our parks and play areas" over the past few years.
As well as this new play area, the town council said there have been four play area refurbishments/installations - at Rosedale, Bentley Drive, Sparrows Nest and St Margaret’s Plain - and three gym equipment installations at Fen Park, Normanston Park and Whitton Green.
The town council spokesman added: "We have recently announced that the Cotman Close play area will be getting a refurbishment in the autumn and Normanston Park play area will be getting some improvements."
