A man has been arrested after holding on to the railings of a bridge as it opened to allow a ship through.
Police were called to the Bascule Bridge in Lowestoft at 9.28am on Wednesday, May 3, to reports of a male who had climbed over the barrier on the south side of the crossing.
The man was arrested for a breach of peace after the bridge opening was delayed and traffic was interrupted.
He was also arrested for an unrelated theft of a pedal bike.
Police later charged Sean Lawless, 47 and of no fixed abode, with theft of a pedal cycle on March 24.
He is due to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 12.
