Two schoolgirls from the east coast are set to hit the stage in the lead role next month for an Easter production.
Excitement is growing among the young cast as B&B’s Young People’s Theatre Group prepares to stage Matilda the Musical Jnr during the Easter holidays.
Ava, nine, from Bradwell in Great Yarmouth and Flo, 10, from Pakefield in Lowestoft will play the title role of Matilda in the production being staged at the Players Theatre, Lowestoft - and they can't wait.
Ava said: "My big sister encouraged me to audition for this role.
"It was my first audition ever so I was very pleased when I learned that I had been given the part."
With the schoolgirls performing alternate shows, the two Matildas said their performances would not be the same.
"I’m the chilled one," said Flo.
"Although the part requires me to be lively and it's so exciting to be performing on stage, I’m feeling quite relaxed about it all."
Ava said: "I’m the chatty and energetic one.
"I’ve had to learn to slow my speech down so that I speak my lines clearly."
With this being their first show with the B&B Young People’s Theatre Group, they admitted it's been a really "fun experience" and they have each made lots of new friends.
This production of Matilda will be the junior version featuring a cast of 38 with an age range of six to 18.
