Have you ever thought about going around and tasting all the scones Suffolk's National Trust sites have to offer?

Fortunately, you won't have to – one woman has spent the last 10 years travelling the country taste-testing all the scones, and she was pretty complimentary of the scones we have to offer in Suffolk.

Sarah Meaker from west London has travelled up and down the UK and written about her experiences at each National Trust location.

Part of the experience the 49-year-old shared was with her husband, Peter, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and died two years later.

But are these the best places to get a scone in Suffolk?

Lavenham Guildhall

Mrs Meaker visited Lavenham Guildhall and described the scone she ate as "sublime".

"It was fresh, warm and tasty," the scone connoisseur said.

The scone received a score of five out of five and Lavenham Guildhall as a location received a score of four out of five.

Melford Hall

Described as "the best scone I have had in a long time", Melford Hall received high praise from Mrs Meaker.

"It was a fantastic scone and fresh as a daisy, with superb texture, and great taste. Great job, Melford," she said.

Both the scone and Melford Hall as a destination received scores of five out of five.

Dunwich Heath

Mrs Meaker was greeted by 20 different types of scones, including chocolate orange, Malteser, apple and cinnamon, cheese and chive, cheese and bacon and sundried tomato and red onion.

The reviewer said: "I can honestly say that the sticky toffee scone was one of the most sublime things I have ever eaten. It was absolutely 100% a scone but it was also absolutely sticky toffee, complete with dates and everything."

Mrs Meaker gave Dunwich five out of five for all of its scones.

Ickworth

Marking her 59th stop on her National Trust scone odyssey, Mrs Meaker stopped off at Ickworth.

Describing the Ickworth restaurant as "swanky" she was equally as impressed with the scone saying the texture was "perfect in every way".

The scone received a four and a half out of five rating and Ickworth as a destination received top marks.

Flatford

"It was delicious," Mrs Meaker said about the scone at Flatford, near East Bergholt.

She also recommends that people stay overnight with many reasonable prices B&Bs located nearby.
