Traditional pantomime fun has returned to the east coast.

The Marina Theatre, in Lowestoft, have opened their annual pantomime, with Jack and the Beanstalk beginning their run earlier this week.

The show, produced by Paul Holman Associates, features popular returning cast members Terry Gleed and John Lyons, while X Factor star Sam Callahan leads the cast.

Audiences have been treated to traditional pantomime fun with slap-stick comedy and witty jokes peppering a classic tale of adventure.

The forces of good and evil battle it out with a fabulously costumed Jamie Jones as Dame Trott and a mischievous Fleshcreep performed by actor and magician Alexander Lee.

Schools from around the region have been making their way to the theatre in coach loads all week for an end-of-term Christmas treat.

The show has been billed as a "giant" of a performance, with the classic English tale showcased.

A theatre spokesperson said: "Opening the show to an auditorium full of vocal primary school children is always a sure-fire way fine-tune the gags and add in some extra spice as we build toward a busy week of shows in the run up to Christmas.

"There’s something for everyone in this year’s panto, from all the well-known panto tropes and sayings to modern references and TikTok dances.

Lowestoft Journal:

"Plus the familiar panto cow Daisy is given a disco dancing revamp in this energetic production."

After a tentative return to live performance for their production of Cinderella in 2021, audiences are rushing back to the theatre this year with several performances in the lead up to Christmas already reaching full capacity.

Lowestoft Journal:

The show, which began on Tuesday, runs until January 1.

Tickets are available from £12 and can be bought online or by calling the Box Office on 01502 533 200.
