A Christmas fayre will take place at a town's railway station this weekend.

On saturday Lowestoft Station's restored Parcels Office will host a number of craft and gift stalls, while the Loddon Brass Band and local vocal duo the Vibettes will provide musical entertainment on the station concourse.

A community carol concert will take place from 3pm, with the Waveney Singers attending in traditional Victorian costume.

The event is the latest of a number of community activities held since the Lowestoft Central Project commenced a few years ago, earning the volunteer team behind the renaissance of Britain’s most easterly railway station numerous awards and commendations in recognition of their efforts.

Jacqui Dale, director from the Lowestoft Central Project, said: "We are hugely excited to be staging our Lowestoft Station Christmas Fayre this Saturday.

"We hope the public will join us for our festive celebrations with an opportunity to pick up some unique Christmas gifts."

The fayre starts at 10am and runs until 4pm.

Free parking is available in the station's long stay car park on Denmark Road for those attending the event.
