A colourfully-lit churchyard is set to attract the crowds once more for a festive community spectacle.
After the success of an inaugural event, churchyard carol singing will return to a north Suffolk village again this evening (Saturday, December 10).
Innovative lighting will transform the exterior of St Michael’s Church in Oulton, as it is illuminated for a popular outdoor community carols event.
With strings of lights being installed up and down the paths, and with the sides of the church lit in coloured shade, the community churchyard carols event at St Michael’s will start at 5pm.
Team Vicar Designate for the Oulton Broad Team Ministry, Rev Andy Bunter said: "It was a fantastic inaugural event last year, and it looks to be bigger and better this year.
"We have different students from Sir John Leman High School in Beccles coming in to take charge of the way that the church is lit up and put their stamp on it as part of the project work they are doing.
"It's always fantastic for a local church to find a touchpoint.
"We felt this event provided a wonderful sense of community, as lots of people turned out to see the absolutely fantastic lights and enjoy singing together.
"We will have some favourite carols that everyone knows, a brass band, as well as the deanery bell ringing team and perhaps a surprise visit from someone wearing red."
With carols, hot chocolate and mince pies, Rev Bunter invited everybody "to come along and join in with carol singing outside," adding "we will all be home in time for England v France."
