Hundreds of people turned out as festive fun for all attracted the crowds to Lowestoft's Christmas lights switch-on spectacular.
With the Grinch causing havoc in the town centre, a Christmas Angel on stilts and human glitterball entertained the children as a giant penguin danced in front of the stage.
The organisation behind Lowestoft's Business Improvement District - Lowestoft Vision - hailed the success of this year’s switch-on event admitting it was "a great success."
Festive street entertainers got the fun under way from 1pm on Saturday, December 3 with live music and performances on stage from 2pm onwards.
A variety of acts entertained with Tim Lindon and Paul Carter, formerly of Beach FM, making welcome returns to the stage to host all the fun.
With the Marina Theatre hosting a Santa’s Grotto in their foyer from 2pm to 4.30pm, some of the cast for this year’s Marina Theatre pantomime - Jack and the Beanstalk - made appearances on stage.
Two markets were also successfully held - a Continental market took centre stage on London Road North from December 1 to December 4 with the Triangle Market on High Street also decked out on Saturday for a Christmas Market and the lights switch-on.
A Lowestoft Town Council spokesman said: "Thank you to everyone who took part in and came along to the Christmas Market last weekend to support the local stallholders and performers."
As the historic high street and town centre was transformed into a festive wonderland, people were encouraged to find letters hidden around Lowestoft as part of a special competition to switch on the Christmas lights alongside Woody Bear from Pleasurewood Hills.
This was won by Tracey, Joshua and Kevin Hall, as cheers and applause echoed out as the Christmas lights were switched on to illuminate Lowestoft.
A Lowestoft Vision spokesman said: "It was a fun-packed Saturday, and thankfully, the rain held off all day."
Danny Steel, chairman of Lowestoft Vision, said: "We are very proud of this year’s switch-on event, and I just like to add my thanks to Ann-marie and Amie for putting together a fantastic event with the added street entertainment, who certainly made their mark.
"Thank you to everyone who came into town to support the event, and well done to the winning family who had the honour of switching on the lights alongside Woody Bear.
"It was also fantastic to have local radio legends Paul Carter and Tim Lindon return after a seven-year gap."
