An annual parade and service to mark Remembrance Sunday will return to Lowestoft war memorial this weekend.
People across the east coast will pay tribute at this weekend's Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade on Royal Plain.
Held on Sunday, November 13, a spokesman for Lowestoft Town Council – who organise the event - said: "The annual Remembrance Parade and Service will be taking place at the War Memorial on Royal Plain, starting shortly before 11am."
This year, the service will also be commemorating the 40th Anniversary of The Falklands.
The spokesman added: "Earlier this year, a new memorial plaque to commemorate the life and service of Private David Parr - who lost his life on the last day of The Falklands - was unveiled in Belle Vue Park and this local connection will form part of the commemoration service on Remembrance Sunday."
The parade, led by soldiers of F (Sphinx) Parachute Battery Royal Horse Artillery, 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, will begin from Claremont Pier and enter Royal Plain shortly before the service begins.
The two-minute silence at 11am will then be marked by the sound of gunfire from the 105mm (L118) Light Gun from F (Sphinx) Parachute Battery Royal Horse Artillery, 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery.
Cadets from the Royal Air Force Air Cadets 469 (Lowestoft) Squadron will call the order of wreath laying at the War Memorial, led by the Deputy Lieutenant of Suffolk, Lord Somerleyton.
Music for the service will be provided by East Coast Sinfonietta with members of the Salvation Army Band.
The spokesman added: "All are welcome to attend the service.
"East Suffolk Council has arranged for free parking to take place between 8am and 1pm on Sunday, November 13 in Royal Green, Claremont Pier, Kirkley Cliff, Clifton Road, Belvedere Road and Britten Centre car parks.
Lowestoft Town Council has also organised three opportunities for people to mark Armistice Day on Friday, November 11.
The services, taking place at the War Memorial on Royal Plain, Lowestoft Cemetery and the Pte David Parr memorial at Belle Vue, will each take place shortly before 11am.
"All are welcome to attend these short services which will include the traditional two-minute silence," the spokesman added.
