THE organisers of the annual Lowestoft carnival are calling on more businesses and community groups to get creative and join in the parade.
The carnival, which takes place on Sunday August 9, is the climax to a week of festivities in the town and it is hoped that more local groups will enter the parade to make it as lively as possible.
Based around a theme of dance, the procession will be interspersed with music from six marching bands including the Wellingborough Redwell Carnival Band, Long Eaton Militaires, Suffolk Samba and the Glen Moriston Pipes and Drums as it winds its way through the town centre.
Carnival committee chairman Pat Rayner said: 'The procession is taking shape nicely with entries from decorated floats, dancing troupes and majorette groups already received, but more participants are needed to make it a lively and vibrant parade of which the town can be justly proud.
'There may be people who had dressed up or built a float for a neighbouring carnival and we would welcome them to join in the fun at Lowestoft too.'
The parade, led by carnival queen Jade Searby and her attendants, starts from Kirkley Park Road at 3pm and finishes at Katwijk Way.
Anyone who wants to get involved can contact Pat Rayner on 01502 563847.
