Creative primary school pupils have left an artistic legacy for future generations.

Youngsters from The Limes Primary Academy in Oulton have sent a message to house hunters of the future by burying a time capsule at the Persimmon Homes development on Woods Meadow.

Celebrating the close links between the new school and neighbouring houses, pupils were asked by the leading housebuilder to draw their own homes to show future generations what life was like in the town in 2019.

The children then watched as their drawings were put inside a weatherproof time capsule and buried at the school.

Jorden Knell, field sales manager for Persimmon Homes Anglia, said: "It is important for us to engage with the communities where we operate, and what better way than by working with the students of Limes Academy, right on the doorstep of the Woods Meadow development.

"They produced some extremely creative designs which we believe will offer a fascinating insight to future generations into how we live today.

"We also included a copy of the Lowestoft Journal and a Persimmon brochure, to illustrate the current news and cost of living for anyone opening the time capsule in years ahead."

School headteacher Kate Cracknell said: "We aim to be a real hub of the community.

"As such, the time capsule was a brilliant project for the children to get involved in.

"Not only were they able to showcase their creativity, the project gave them plenty to think about in terms of 'past, present and future', as well as how their own neighbourhood is changing and growing."
